Hypnosis For Health – It’s All Just In The Mind

Hypnotic Healing Is All In The Mind.

Over the millennia hypnosis has been used by our ancestors to treat many different medical conditions. However, it was relegated to stage entertainment in the last hundred years until recent scientific discoveries brought it squarely back into the scientific arena!

Even though conventional medical thinking relegated hypnosis to nothing more than a stage act it is now considered a unique and fast solution for many medical problems by the medical profession today. In the United Kingdom hypnosis is available on the NHS. In America research has shown that hypnosis is very effective for quitting smoking and in France hypnotherapists, under laboratory conditions, found that they could lower a patient's blood pressure!

There are many popular misconceptions about hypnosis that mainly stem from Hollywood and television. The use of hypnosis is films is almost always for negative or selfish reasons and hypnotists are portrayed as sleazy or evil in their intentions. This has lead many people to believe hypnosis can be used as a mind-altering or brain-washing tool to get them to do things they wouldn't normally do. This is far from the truth. Hypnosis cannot be employed as a brain-washing tool and cannot be used to get someone to do anything that they have not consciously consented to!

Having said that, hypnosis can be used to alter beliefs, thought processes, emotional responses, negative memories and more. With the conscious consent of the subject, hypnosis can be used to make any psychological change desired!

Exactly how hypnosis works is not known at this time. However, the effects but psychological and physiological can be measured. Hypnosis creates a state of profound relaxation of mind and body while creating a mental state of heightened alertness and focus - called trance.

Hypnosis is a natural state that everyone experiences throughout their daily lives. When you read a good book, watch a movie that captures your attention, listen to an inspiring piece of music or just wander off into a day dream you are experiencing a form of trance.

While under the influence of hypnosis there are very real and measurable brainwave changes with corresponded changes in the body. A hypnotic state will change our everyday brainwaves form Beta to Alpha. Alpha is a state of relaxed focused attention and it during this state that impressions, suggestions or commands can be passed directly to the subconscious part of the mind. The hypnosis Alpha state also gives access to the subconscious mind and its vast storehouse of information. This makes hypnosis an excellent tool for psychological change and healing.

Due to its ability to gain easy, quick access to the subconscious mind, and because this part of the mind runs the entire body, some forms of physical healing are possible with hypnosis.

At Harvard Medical School they found that broken bones could be healed three weeks quicker than normal through the use of hyspnosis. They also discovered that they could reduce scarring and inflammation through the use of carefully worded hypnotic suggestions.

Because hypnosis can be used to gain communication with the subconscious mind quickly it is a marvellous tool for psychological change.

Hypnosis is an excellent tool for psychological disorders and is used to treat many different psychological illnesses. Anxiety, trauma and depression are just a few of the disorders that have been successfully treated with hypnotherapy. Thus it has become a very important tool with self improvement practitioners.

Research continues on a daily basis into the uses of and effectiveness of Hypnosis so who can tell what other benefits may be uncovered.
